Beats Music rolled out a major update to its iOS app, adding support for iPad and the ability to follow Twitter friends from within the app.

Beats Music app for Apple's iOS platform has received a major update making it universal across all mobile devices. The music streaming app is now tailored for the big iPad screens complete with features found on the iPhone version of the app. The iPad version also features a stylish and sophisticated user interface specially designed for the larger screen on iPads, the company said.

The iPad optimization for the Beats Music app comes almost four months after the app was first launched on Android and iPhone in January. The app made its entry to the Windows Phone platform later in January, covering three major mobile platforms in the industry. With the new Beats Music app version 2.0, iPad users can finally give up on using a blown-up version of the iPhone app and use the app that covers all the corners of an iPad for a better visual while listening to your favorite tracks.

In addition to the universal availability of the mobile music streaming app, Beats added a new feature called "Find Your Friends" for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad users. The new feature helps users find and follow Twitter friends on Beats Music.

Beats officially announced the change in a company's blog post, Thursday. The company said iPad users of the music app can enjoy all features as found on iPhone.

"All the features from the iPhone app - Just For You, The Sentence, Highlights, Playlists by Genre, Activity, and Curators - plus the ability to find artists, albums tracks, and playlists bookmarked for later are included in the iPad app," the company posted on its blog. "Listeners can change their profile, make a playlist and share it with the world, as well as download music to the iPad to listen on the plane or anywhere, even if there's no Internet connection."

Apple iPad users can also take advantage of dedicated support for both portrait and landscape modes.

In April, Beats added support for users to subscribe directly from the app and manage accounts via iTunes. With the latest update, iPad users can also do the same on their subscription-based Beats Music app.

The updated app is available on App Store for free. Users must pay $9.99 each month to listen to music after a 7-day free trial. To sweeten the deal, Beats is offering a year-long free subscription of Beats Music and an iPad to one fan through a competition on Twitter.
