Microsoft rolled out its first update for the month-old launched Office suite for iPad

Microsoft pushed out the first update to its Office suite for iPad users. The software giant launched the Office for iPad last month and received favorable response with millions downloading Word, PowerPoint, and Excel apps. Microsoft missed out on offering the print feature for its Office suite on the new platform. The company has finally rectified the error and announced support for printing from all three apps in the Office suite for iPads.

The update includes major developments to the suite besides printing such as, SmartGuide in PowerPoint and AutoFit in Excel.

The big announcement was made on Microsoft's official Office Blog, Tuesday, detailing the functions of the new features. Print support via Apple's AirPrint feature lets users read and wirelessly print documents, but still requires Office 365 subscription starting $6.99 per month to edit and create documents. Word users can print docs with or without markups and choose the entire document, a single page or a range of pages. Print feature in Excel lets users select single worksheet or an entire spreadsheet and also print single slides with PowerPoint. Microsoft said the support for printing was brought by user-demand as it was the most requested feature by users.

Other features make presentations and spreadsheets look more aligned. With the SmartGuides in PowerPoint, users can align pictures, shapes and textboxes even as they are moved around the slide. The AutoFit in Excel app helps users get the entire content in perfectly adjusted rows and columns. Like in every update, Microsoft has also fixed some bugs to improve the overall user experience on the app.

In order to take advantage of the new features, users must upgrade their current apps from Apple App Store or can download updated WordPowerPoint, and Excel apps from iTunes.
