A Pennsylvania man who was abandoned as a baby inside a McDonald's has started a social media campaign to find his birth mother.

David Volk, 36, posted a picture of himself on Facebook with a note asking for help to find his birth mother who left him in a New Jersey McDonald's just hours after he was born on Dec. 20, 1977.

"I was left in a McDonald's wrapped in a brown plastic bag in a sink," Volk told WFMZ-TV. "The manager on duty found me that day."

So far Volk has not been successful at finding his mother ever since he posted the message at the beginning of April. But his hopes are high due to the success of another woman who was abandoned at birth in a Burger King. Nicknamed the "Burger King Baby," Katheryn Deprill found her birth mother in less than a month by using Facebook to help her search.

"It was essentially the same case as mine, and she found her mom in three weeks," Volk told the New York Daily News. "I never thought there was any hope in finding my mother."

When baby Volk was found, authorities at the time named him Christopher McDonald because his birthday was close to Christmas. He was found in the women's bathroom with the umbilical cord still attached, reports at the time said, according to WFMZ-TV.

The baby was later adopted by David and Ronda Volk, who changed Christopher's name to David.

Volk reached out to Deprill after she was reunited with her mother, Cathy Pocheck, expressing his hopes of finding a happy ending like she did. Volk believes his mother was young and must have experienced hardship while pregnant, the station reported.

"I forgive you for whatever you did," Volk told WFMZ-TV. "I just want to get to know you. And meet you and be a part of your life."
