Samsung has officially launched the successor to its projector built in smartphone Galaxy Beam in China, but has no intentions to bring the Beam 2 in other markets.

Samsung, the world's largest smartphone making company, launched the successor to its infamous Galaxy Beam, but limited its availability to China through China Mobile. The South Korean multinational electronics company was one of the first smartphone makers to introduce a built-in projector in a smartphone, but apparently it did not catch much attention in the global market, except in China. The  tech giant has launched Galaxy Beam 2 with slightly improved specs in the country, Engadget spotted.

The original Samsung Galaxy Beam was launched ahead of the 2012 Mobile World Congress with dual-core 1 GHz processor, 4-inch, 800 x 480 screen, 5-megapixel rear camera, VGA front shooter and Android 2.3. While it did not make an impression with its mid-range specs, Samsung managed to create a little buzz with its 15-lumen projector, which can beam a 50-inch wide image on a wall, Mashable reported. The smartphone maker has stepped up its game with its Beam 2 smartphone.

The all-new Galaxy Beam 2, which was launched on Samsung's official website in China without a press release, comes with a built-in professional level mini projector. "It supports WVGA resolution, automatic Camma proofreading and background color correction function to protect the excellent brightness and less transparent color," the feature description for Samsung Galaxy Beam 2 reads. "In addition, it also has a variety of projector applications, such as Notepad, mappers, environmental modeling, flashlights, etc., all to meet your every need."

The Galaxy Beam 2 features an upgraded 1.2GHz Quad-core processor, Android 4.2 OS, bigger 4.66-inch display with screen resolution same as its predecessor, 800 x 480 pixels and unchanged camera with 5-megapixel rear-facing shooter. The Beam 2 features an upgraded RAM of 1GB and features a 2,600 mAh battery. The device supports a 3G networks and the memory can be expanded up to 64 GB via microSD slots.

The Samsung smartphone/mobile projector combo is only available through China's biggest wireless network China Mobile. The pricing details and the international availability are still kept under wraps.
