Ford and nail care specialist OPI found a novel way to reach out to its customers with a new range of limited edition Ford Mustang nail lacquer to honor the 50-year anniversary of the pony car.

Ford Motors, one of the largest automakers around the world, is teaming up with nail care specialist and a subsidiary of COTY, OPI,  to mark the 50-year anniversary of the iconic Ford Mustang. Ford's collaboration with fashion pop culture doesn't come as a surprise as it has featured its popular pony car in nearly 3,000 appearances in TV and films. The latest partnership with OPI brings a new range of limited edition Ford Mustang nail polish collection. The range will offer six shades taken from Mustang's vibrant color palette.

Ford celebrated the fifty year anniversary of its Mustang car this month in myriad ways. A limited edition Mustang GT was placed almost 15,000 feet above the busy streets of Manhattan, atop the Empire State Building. Ford Mustang is the only car to have climbed atop the iconic edifice.

"Nail color, just like the car she drives, is the ultimate expression of a woman's personality. Automobiles are synonymous with style, and there is a special kind of love affair between a woman and her car," Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI co-founder and executive vice president, said in a Ford press release, last week. "These lacquers celebrate a woman's pursuit of excitement and invite OPI fans to accentuate their personal style and embrace Mustang's adventurous spirit through color."

Ford is as excited about the launch of the new nail polish range to honor its muscle car's fifty continuous years in production, which makes it eligible to join the exclusive club of vehicles in continuous production for the past 50 years. "Use of Mustang-inspired colors to celebrate the car's success is the best way there is," Melanie Banker, Mustang marketing manager said earlier this month.

The six limited edition colors for the new range of OPI nail polish include the popular Race Red, which is a tribute to Mustang's signature color. Other shades from the range are 50 Years of Style, which is the golden pearl hue; Queen of the Road, the black shade; Girls Love Ponies signifies hot pink;  Angel with a Leadfoot is the celestial white; and The Sky's My Limit represents blue color.

The collection will hit stores in the U.S. starting July with a suggested price tag of $9.50.
