McDonald's Ronald McDonald mascot is a changed man who will help the company grow in the social media world.

McDonald's senior vice president and global relationships officer said he sees good fortune for the icon, who currently dons yellow cargo pants, a vest and red-and-white striped rugby shirt, according to a press release from the company.

"Ronald brings to life the fun of our brand by connecting with customers around the world, whether he's promoting literacy or spreading cheer at a Ronald McDonald House," Dean Barrett said in the statement. "Customers today want to engage with brands in different ways and Ronald will continue to evolve to be modern and relevant."

Ronald's shoes will remain big and red, but the front pocket of his red blazer will soon bear golden arches. The back of the coat features the mascot's signature, according to the press release. Ronald will also wear a bowtie.

The designer of the clothes said the McDonald's mascot project was one of her strong points.

"Designing new clothes for Ronald McDonald was one of the highlights of my career," costume designer Ann Hould-Ward said in a statement. "I've worked with some really big names over the years and suiting up a living legend was a real thrill."

McDonald's chief creative officer said Ronald McDonald is a special part of peoples' lives across the globe.

"It's wonderful to see what Ronald means to people around the world," Marlena Peleo-Lazar said in a statement. "We couldn't be more excited to give him a new look and send him off to visit his fans everywhere."

The man himself is ready to help impact the world with his new look.

"Selfies ...here I come! It's a big world and now, wherever I go and whatever I do...I'm ready to show how fun can make great things happen," Ronald McDonald said in a statement.
