Richmond, Va. area residents could have access to two new Wegeman's Food Markets if the necessary approvals go through, according to a press release from the company, Tuesday.

Wegmans Food Market's senior vice president of real estate said he felt the locations would fulfill residents' needs for access in the surrounding area.

"Over the years, we have had countless requests to open a Wegmans store in the Richmond area, so we are delighted to finally announce that we're headed there," Ralph Uttaro said in a statement. "We look forward to the day when we can welcome customers to our stores and deliver on our promise of incredible customer service, the best ingredients, restaurant-quality prepared foods, and consistent low prices."

One of the stores slated to be the main location at the Stonehenge Village Shopping Center in Midlothian, Va, will reportedly have more retail space.

The center sits on the Midlothian Turnpike, located directly east of Farnham Drive, 0.8 miles to the west of Chester County's town center, according to the press release.

The area is also 10 miles southwest from Richmond, Va.'s downtown sector.

The company also stated its plans to put another flagship location at West Broad Marketplace in Short Pump, Va., situated in Virginia's Henrico County. According to the press release, Short Pump sits 45 miles to the south of Wegmans location in Fredericksburg, Va. The store is also 55 miles southeast of Charlottesville, Va.

Between 550 and 600 people will land employment at the new stores, ranging from full-time and part-time positions.

Work on the shops will not begin until Wegmans has received approval for each project.

Plans call for the store and specialty hunting, fishing, camping and shooting retailer Cabela's to serve as the shopping location's main attraction. Developer NV Retail also awaits approval for a food market in West Broad.
