HTC reportedly hired former Samsung exec Paul Golden as a business adviser for its chairperson Cher Wang. His service is expected to boost the sales of the company by improving its marketing strategies.

According to sources of Bloomberg, Paul Golden will directly report to Wang and help her in improving her marketing strategies. Wang, co-founder of HTC, needed an experienced adviser after the company reported sales and market loss for the past three quarters. The Taiwanese smartphone maker plans to make more TV commercials to attract more buyers.

"We just have to communicate well with our customers," Wang said in an interview at HTC's Taipei headquarters on April 8. "I believe if we can communicate better, we will do better."

Golden is nothing new on marketing after working with Samsung for four years. He is the man behind the successful Galaxy brand. The Galaxy had led Samsung from a four percent market share to 21 percent. HTC hopes that he can do wonders for its new device One M8 which is now earning positive reviews due to its high-end design and a gorgeous display.

Sources said that Golden is currently on a three-month contract with HTC.

HTC did not deny nor confirm the report. It said to an e-mail to Bloomberg, "HTC continues to invest in talent and recruitment as part of our broader human resources strategy."

Meanwhile, Golden's LinkedIn account does not show anything about HTC. His profile showed that he is still with the marketing consultancy firm Brand Slam.

HTC needs so much work on marketing and convincing people to buy its product. This is proven because, despite big names endorsing their product such as Gary Oldman and Robert Downey Jr., the company is still lagging behind other Android brands specially Samsung. Downey signed a two-year contract with HTC last year as a spokesperson for the "Here's to Change" campaign, however, even the Iron Man wasn't able to change the way people feel about buying HTC's product. This year, according to the Daily Mail, HTC paid Oldman millions to endorse HTC One M8.
