A woman in Tennessee made a gruesome discovery during an Easter egg hunt with her son: a dead body underneath the deck, FoxNews.com reported.

Tara Hanouskova smelled a foul odor in her Knoxville home but didn't find the source until Wednesday, according to Fox News. She discovered the body when she saw shoes in a crawl space while searching for eggs with her 3-year-old son.

She immediately called police, who investigated the case without letting the boy see what happened.

"They were very respectful; they tread lightly," Hanouskova said. "My son has no idea what happened."

Hanouskova said she does not know how the body got underneath her deck. Police do not suspect foul play, the New York Daily News said.

Darrell DeBusk, a spokesman for the Knoxville Police Department, said the man had been dead for two weeks. An autopsy found that a medical condition could have led to his death, FoxNews.com said.

Unless something else is found in the final autopsy report, the death will be listed under natural causes, DeBusk said.

Authorities are still trying to identify the man and learn how his body ended up in Hanouskova's home.
