Sugarland singer Jennifer Nettles tweeted that her Mother's Day was filled with "so much love and joy" as she introduced the world to 5-month-old Magnus Hamilton Miller.

The first-time mother gave birth to her little bundle of joy on Dec. 6. She announced she was pregnant in June after two years of marriage to her husband Justin Miller.

In an interview with People magazine, Nettles said how excited they were about the arrival of the baby.

"He's super, super sweet. We made a deal before he was born. I said, 'Look, you can cook as long as you want, as long as you come out and latch like it's your job and have a sweet demeanor.' He kept his part of the bargain," Nettles told People.

Along with the picture, the country star wrote a blog post on her website.

"On December 6, 2012 my life was forever changed," Nettles wrote. "I had a baby! Magnus Hamilton Miller was born healthy, hungry and with way more hair than I was expecting after seeing baby pictures of both me and my husband."

In the note she reflects on how right from the beginning Magnus was the "boss of her" and she's not surprised by it; she was merely the willing and excited participant. She talked about the baby coming after his due date of November 29 and how all the birthing classes, videos and books could not prepare her for the joys and sleepless nights of motherhood.

She expressed how nervous she was to host the CMA Country Christmas Special at 36 weeks pregnant and how little Magnus has taught her so much about herself.

The greatest advice she was given about motherhood she says, was from her own mother.

"You can read every book and website (I've read them all), and listen to the well-meaning advice of family and friends, on how to get your baby to, for example, sleep more or through the night. But guess what? This stuff is not one size fits all," she writes. Her mother told her to always remind herself that "this works SOMETIMES" and not to be afraid to make your own rules.

Nettles ends the not thanking everyone for the support, thoughts, prayers and tweets.

"I have been giving myself the space to enjoy this most sacred, precious time," the country singer wrote. "However, I am also bursting at the seams with pride! And so, it gives me great pleasure to say to you, meet Magnus."
