Samsung has silently launched the dual-SIM version of its premium flagship smartphone, Galaxy S5, exclusively on China Telecom.

Samsung, the South Korean conglomerate, launched the Galaxy S5 dual-SIM variant in China as a China Telecom-customized version. The new handset appeared on Samsung's official Chinese website last week with identical specifications. The latest addition brings no surprise, but the shocking fact is that the tech giant chose not to make any official announcement or make a press statement. The tech giant has long followed the tradition of expanding its flagship lineup with other variants like the dual-SIM and Mini models.

The new Galaxy S5 dual-SIM variant has a G9009D model number alongside its exclusive ties with China Telecom. Sadly, the G9009D does not support 4G LTE, as it comes with support for CDMA 2000, which is used by China Telecom, on one of its SIM slots and GSM support on the other slot can take regular SIM cards. The Galaxy S5 dual-SIM variant also adds 1.5 grams of additional weight to the original 145 grams handset, GSM Arena reports.

Other technical specifications remain unchanged. Like the international variant, the Chinese dual-SIM model features a 5.1-inch Full HD Super AMOLED screen, 16-megapixel rear-facing camera, 2-megapixel front shooter, 2.5GHz Quad core application processor, 2GB RAM and offers optional 16 or 32 GB built-in storage with support for microSD card. Other features include a 2,800 mAh battery, finger print scanning technology and pre-loaded health and fitness apps. The camera features real-time HDR shooting, selective focus, quick auto focus and IP67 rated dust and waterproof grade.

Samsung did not reveal any hints on whether the dual-SIM variant of the Galaxy S5 will be available in other countries or with other carriers within China. The Samsung Galaxy S5 G9009D will be available starting April 11, same as when the global launch of the handset is scheduled. China Telecom subscribers can purchase the dual-SIM variant for CNY 5,299 ($850).
