"Captain America: The Winter Solider" has Marvel fans flocking to the theaters to catch up Steve Rogers and the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The film stars Chris Evans as the title superhero, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill and Robert Redford as Agent Alexander Pierce. Check out the trailer and what critics had to say about the film below.

The Chicago Tribune gives the film three out of four stars:

"The worldwide success of these movies is in their superheroics, of course, and in the crazy degree of overkill involved. There is no "just enough" in today's computer-generated Marvel marvels; there is only "too much." And there's a stealth element of hypocrisy in a film like "The Winter Soldier," which bemoans America's bloodthirsty, weapons-mad impulses even as it exploits all the hardware and an obscene body count for fun and profit. Something about even a good Marvel movie is starting to feel a little bit enough-already."

Rolling Stone also gives the film three out of four stars:

"It's Steve's disorientation after 70 years on ice that gets Captain America: The Winter Soldier off to such an exhilarating comic start. Steve keeps a pop-culture to-do list, including disco, Thai food and Star Wars/Trek. His new buddy, Army paratrooper Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), a.k.a. the Falcon, says all Steve needs is the Marvin Gaye soundtrack from Trouble Man. Good advice. Steve gets another kind of lesson from Natasha Romanoff, played by Scarlett Johansson with irresistible sass and sparkle."

Rotten Tomatoes audience viewers certify the film fresh with a 94 percent rating:

"It's suspenseful, ominous and elaborate in its story. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a solid burst of thrills and action that surpasses the previous installment and expectations. Indeed, the film is a great entry & sequel for this stand-alone-Avenger & bridge for the second phase of Marvel's Cinematic Universe's superhero empire."
