Rob Kardashian and celebrity photographer Kassandra Perez (whose real name is Andra Viak) got into an alteration in March.

According to reports, Perez allegedly followed Kardashian from his gym near La Cinega Boulevard and Melrose Avenue to a commercial parking structure to get pictures of the reality TV star shirtless. It was in that parking lot that Perez said Kardashian allegedly grabbed her camera and removed the memory card. During the struggle over the camera, Kardashian supposedly struck the photographer in the face.

E! News reported that Perez said she was "struck in the face and suffered severe contusions on her arm and chest, as well as damage to her property".

TMZ reported that Kardashian lashed out at Perez because she trespassed onto private property to take the photos.

According to the HuffingtonPost, Perez filed a robbery report claiming that the sock designer stole her camera and equipment. She also filed a civil suit in which she claims Kardashian "intentionally, willfully, wantonly and maliciously ran" at her after she took the pictures.

Perez said her memory card contained approximately 1,200 photographs of various celebrities and 300 photographs of freelance projects and was valued at over $30,000.

Los Angeles County prosecutors charged Kardashian on Friday in the misdemeanor complaint.

Kardashian, with his attorney Robert Shapiro, appeared in the Beverly Hills courtroom of L.A. County Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel and pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor battery and petty theft.

Over prosecutors' objections, Revel allowed Kardashian to remain free on his own recognizance. The L.A. County district attorney's office had asked that bail be set at $21,000.
