X Officially Allows Adult Content: What You Need to Know

Elon Musk's X recently announced that they will start cracking down on content thieves and reposters on the platform.

The company will no longer tolerate those who steal content from different kinds of accounts, especially those that do not properly attribute to the original owner, particularly from small accounts.

X Cracks Down on Content Thieves, Reposters

According to a post published last weekend by X's head of product, Nikita Bier, they are now rolling out a platform-wide crackdown against thieves and reposters that steal content from original owners or posters (OPs).

Bier said that in the past month, the team has identified many accounts, especially large ones, that perform unlawful practices of stealing others' uploads.

The X executive said that these accounts reupload content from smaller accounts and make it seem like it came from them, and this effectively trumps the smaller creator's chances of getting monetized or earning revenue.

According to Digital Trends, this notorious act has long been a practice on X, and the platform has ignored it for a long time, even going as far as to reward them with earned revenue and monetization.

However, this will no longer be the case moving forward as, according to Bier, the team and xAI's Saurabh Verma have worked together to develop a new process that will properly identify the owners of the post and those who only stole it.

According to the X Product head, they will now better identify the original owner of said posts and allocate the "impressions" entirely to the creator.

Bier said that for reposters or those who want to share certain content, they may use the Share Video or Quote feature on the platform, which promotes proper attribution to owners.

In a recent update, X also revealed that it is cracking down on posts that do not add proper labels to violent videos, especially those that depict armed conflict.
