Microsoft announced new Office 365 Personal for an individual to use it on one PC or Mac and one tablet, with subscription benefits including Skype calling and OneDrive storage.

Microsoft is bringing an affordable solution to users for accessing the new, cheaper version of Office 365 called the Office 365 Personal. The new Office suite of productivity tools will address the needs of millions of people using Office on single machine. The Office 365 Personal will work similar to the Home and Office versions, launched in 2010, with standard access to Microsoft Office software, with Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

The Office 365 Personal was announced during SharePoint Conference, earlier this month. With the release scheduled for this Spring, Office 365 will allow one PC or Mac and a tablet to connect to the service for just $6.99 per month and $69.99 for one year. Microsoft currently offers one-time licenses for Office Home and Student licenses for $139.99. The new Office will bring a feasible option for users with minimal use.

"We recognize that there are households of all shapes and sizes and we're committed to delivering the right Office for everyone - whether that be one person or an entire household," Microsoft's senior marketing manager, Chris Schneider wrote in the company's official blog, last week.

While users on Office 365 Personal will be limited to one PC or Mac and a tablet, Office 365 Home allows users to connect up to five computers and five mobile devices. But the option may not be constructive for those who do not own numerous machines.

The Redmond software giant also said that the new Office 365 Personal will not alter the Office 365 Home Premium subscription plans, except for its name to be Office 365 Home. The changes will take place only after the new Office suite becomes available.

Additionally, users will not be compromising on any of the subscription benefits with either Office suites. The 60 minutes of Skype calling, 20GB additional OneDrive storage and timely updates to the Office will be a part of both Office 365 Home and Personal, the software giant added.

"We're committed to delivering a great Office experience to all of our customers and believe that giving you a choice about the Office 365 subscription that fits your unique needs is one way we can do that,"  Schneider wrote.
