Brazil native Arlindo de Souza has been dubbed "the real-life Popeye" for his massive biceps. According to the Daily Mail, Souza obtained his physique by injecting his arms with a potentially lethal dose of oil and alcohol.

Reportedly the mixture causes the muscles in the arms to swell. De Souza's has grown to 29 inches, making his biceps the biggest in Brazil.

He told the newspaper that he started using the mixture about two years ago after a gym buddy told him about a "site enhancement oil" that would help him quickly achieve big biceps.

"The guy gave it to me. He said, 'Take this, it will make you grow in days,'" de Souza said. "I loaded the syringe, put it in my arm, injected it and it swelled me up right there and then. To tell you the truth, I didn't feel a thing. There was sometimes a bit of dizziness but nothing apart from that."

"I was working out the same so my strength stayed the same - nothing changed," he added. "Most people who take it do not know how to apply it. They will use just any old blood vessel. Some will end up losing an arm, another needs an operation, some may even lose their lives."

Several bodybuilders in Brazil have started using the mixture to also obtain abnormally large biceps. De Souza said he knows the injections could eventually make him sick or even kill him and warns other people not to try it.

"My friend Paulinho, he passed away from doing these things," he told the Daily Mail. "I felt his death a lot. He took it, I took it, but he went beyond the limit. I advise no one to take this oil."

De Souza has since stopped injecting himself with the oil and alcohol concoction but is aware that it may be too late. He said that he has visited local doctors but they all refuse to operate on him because they said he "did it to himself."

He explained that doctors are only willing to help if he becomes ill or his arms burst. According to the Daily Mail, when doctors have operated on people who have used the mixture they found the person's arms were filled with oil and pus.

"I've stopped taking it, and other things as well, but there is always that will to start again," de Souza added. "But I'm managing to control myself, to this day."
