A 17-year-old Chicago rapper was charged with murder in connection to a fatal shooting of a cab driver in February, Chicago Tribune reports. Clint Massey, who goes by "RondoNumbaNine," was charged on Sunday, Mar. 9 for the shooting of 28-year-old Javan Boyd.

Massey is currently being held on $2 million bail and is said to be one of two shooters linked to the crime. Witnesses placed the up-and-coming rapper and an unnamed gunman at the scene on Feb. 22 and said that the two fired shots into the cab.

Boyd, who was shot seven times, was rushed to a local Chicago hospital where he was pronounced dead. According to the Chicago Tribune, Massey and the other gunman drove to the 3700 block of South Princeton Avenue around 4 a.m. on Feb. 22.

Boyd was sitting outside in his cab waiting to pick up a passenger when Massey and the second gunman approached the vehicle from the passenger side door and started firing inside the car. Assistant State's Attorney Robert Mack said that the shooting was due to retaliation for an alleged altercation that took place earlier. Part of the shooting was captured on camera and Massey's fingerprints were also found on the vehicle.

Last month, Boyd's family told reporters that he was a "good boy" who was trying to support his fiancé and 11-year-old daughter, Chicago Tribune reports.

"He was a good child," his aunt Trina Boyd said.

Trina became the 28-year-old's legal guardian in 1994 after a fire at the Robert Taylor Homes housing development killed his mother and three younger siblings.

"He didn't have no enemies that I know of," she continued. "He was my baby."

Massey's arrest comes after the rapper was criticized for posting a picture of himself holding a rocket launcher. The photo reportedly caused the Chicago Police Department to release a bulletin and order an alert, Hot New Hip Hop reports. Reportedly the "Hang Wit Me" rapper said it was "just a publicity stunt."
