T-Mobile announced that it will be increasing the amount of data that each customer can consume for a month by up to 100 percent.

The increase will apply to those who availed of the standard 4G LTE Plan and it will be implemented with no additional cost to the consumer. Those who subscribed to the $60 per month plan will get an increase in their data bucket to 3GB per month, instead of the usual 2.5GB per month. On the other hand, those who availed of the $70 plan per month will receive 5GB of LTE service instead of the 2.5 GB. Subscribers of the $70 monthly plan can also turn their smartphones into Wi-Fi hotspots.

"When customers see their bill in April, they'll see that their data has automatically increased," Mike Sievert, T-Mobile Chief Marketing Officer, stated on a phone interview on Friday, as reported by CNET. "Everyone gets it automatically. There's no signup or additional fee to switch plans. It will just be there, and not one single customer will pay more for it."

Unlike other providers, T-Mobile does not charge users who exceed their monthly data plan. Instead, their connections were slowed down, but they are still given the liberty to access the Internet without risking any additional fees.

The increase in data plan will be automatically credited to all subscribers of Simple Choice. The company also offers free texting services to numbers outside the US territory. T-Mobile users can also enjoy free text messaging while they are out of the country. This service is designed to send messages to at least 120 countries.

According to Sievert, the increased data plan is vindication that T-Mobile is listening to its customers and they work in giving them what they clamor for.

"Our customers are using way more data today than when we introduced Simple Choice last year," he said to CNET. Data usage has grown 50 percent compared to a year ago on the Simple Choice plans. Customers are demanding more and using more data. So we're listening to them and giving them what they want."
