Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah allegedly tried to recruit New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony during the All-Star weekend.  Knicks general manager Steve Mills, meanwhile, reportedly met with Phil Jackson to gauge his interest in becoming the team's next head coach.

Noah may have violated the NBA's tampering rules by reportedly trying to recruit Anthony.  The recruiting pitch occurred in February sometime during the All-Star weekend, according to ESPN's Chris Broussard.

"The conversation between Anthony and Noah started as a discussion about what it's like to play for Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau.  ... From there, the discussion turned to Noah telling Anthony he should join the Bulls," Broussard wrote on Thursday.  "... The sources said Noah told Anthony something to this effect: You can go to Los Angeles, but if you really want a ring, if you really want your legacy to be about winning, you should come to Chicago.

"Anthony responded by telling Noah that he admires how hard the Bulls play and how hungry they are.  Anthony also told Noah, according to sources, that Derrick Rose is his son's favorite player.

"Sources said Rose also wants the Bulls to add Anthony and would be willing to help recruit him if he is asked to do so."

Media outlets, including Yahoo Sports, have reported Chicago's interest in signing Anthony.  The perennial All-Star can opt out of his contract after the season and become a free agent.

Mills, meanwhile, reportedly tried to right the Knicks' sinking ship by asking Jackson to coach the team next season.

Per ESPN:

"New York Knicks president and general manager Steve Mills met about two weeks ago with Phil Jackson about the possibility of Jackson becoming the team's next coach, sources told ESPN's Stephen A. Smith.

"The sources told Smith the message the Knicks received from Jackson was that he was not interested in the position at this time."

New York hosts the Utah Jazz on Friday.
