Naughty Dog's "The Last Of Us" is the latest video game to land its own big-screen adaptation.

"The Last Of Us" follows the story of Joel and Ellie, two apocalypse survivors heading to a research facility that may be able to find a cure for the rise of those infected with the zombie-virus.

"Our partnership with Sam Raimi, Ghost House Pictures, and Screen Gems to develop a film based on The Last of Us universe is a perfect fit," Evan Wells, Naughty Dog's Co-President, said in a statement. "Since our game released last June, we've talked with many companies about making a film, but we couldn't have found better partners who share our creative vision and high standards. We look forward to collaborating with Sam, his team, and Screen Gems, to make a movie that will thrill fans of The Last of Us and general audiences worldwide."

However, it remains to be seen if the voice actors Ashley Johnson (Ellie) and Troy Baker (Joel) will reprise their roles for the film. Both Ashley and Troy look nothing like their "The Last of Us" characters, but Hollywood has a way of making things work.

Speaking to IGN, Baker didn't confirm if he was approached to take on the role in the film adaptation, but reassured fans the movie is in good hands.

"From experience I trust implicitly everyone at Naughty Dog," Baker told IGN. "From Christophe to Evan to Bruce Straley to Neil Druckmann. To everyone who liked that game, you need to trust what they're doing. I know that if it wasn't going to be something that accurately represents that story, they wouldn't do it."

"So I'm 100 percent behind it," he added. "If I get a chance to be a hunter or a clicker, I'd be so happy! But even if not I'll participate in watching the film with just as much enthusiasm and excitement as if I was in it."

"The Last of Us" movie does not have a set release date.
