Bryan Kohberger's attorneys claimed in a court filing that his client was driving while four University of Idaho students were fatally stabbed in their beds.

Bryan Kohberger, the 29-year-old former graduate student charged in the vicious stabbing murders of four Idaho College students, has his alibi with scant new details for the time the three female and male roommates were killed in an off-campus house.

"Mr. Kohberger was out driving in the early morning hours of Nov. 13, 2022, as he often did to hike and run and/or see the moon and stars," said a document filed Wednesday by his attorneys.

The lawyers stated they plan to to call a cell tower data expert to help support the claims. They also noted that "additional information" about Kohberger's whereabouts would be provided, though provided no details.

A earlier filing also noted that Kohberger was driving around the time of the murders, but also noted he was "not claiming to be at a specific location at a specific time" — and that there was no witness to confirm his whereabouts. The latest document was filed after prosecutors set a deadline of April 17 for more information.

Kohberger stands accused of breaking into the roommates' home in the town of Moscow in 2022 and fatally stabbing four of them — Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin — with a military-style knife.

Two other female roommates were at home when the others were killed, but were not attacked.

One of them — Dylan Mortensen — came face to face with the killer, who was dressed in black and wearing a mask, as he left the home after the murders, according to the criminal affidavit in the case.

Kohberger refused to enter a plea at the start of his trial last year. The judge set his plea as "not guilty."

Idaho will see the death penalty if Kohberger is convicted.
