As Americans file for their tax returns, pro-Palestinian protesters made a coordinated string of protests across the country to send a message to the public not to allow US taxpayer money to Israel.

According to the Washington Post, demonstrators blocked roads, highways, bridges, airports, and even some factories on Monday (Apr. 15) to coincide with Tax Day, sparking traffic jams and arrests across the nation, with activists declaring the action as a coordinated day of economic protest against the war between Israel and Hamas.

The protests spanned Wall Street in New York to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Protests were also reported in Philadelphia, Chicago, Miami, San Antonio, and Seattle

As of Monday evening, the Post reported that the morning protests in Chicago, Philadelphia, Miami, San Antonio, and other areas have been dispersed.

On the West Coast, while the protest at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport has been cleared off, a protest approaching the Tesla facility in Fremont, California, was reported. California Highway Patrol troopers were also reported throwing pepper balls to disperse the crowd.

Despite reports of multiple arrests, no significant violence had been reported.

Due to the protests, daily life and commutes have been disrupted, but a coordinated string of protests like the one held on Monday is very rare.

The protests were also held after Iran launched a massive airstrike against Israel over the weekend.
