At least 16 people were injured when a driver intentionally crashed a stolen 18-wheeler into a Texas Department of Public Safety office in Brenham, Texas, Friday.

At least three victims were transported to the hospital in critical condition, the DPS said, KRIV-TV reported.

No workers were seriously injured, however one staffer was "trapped for a period of time inside the office," Senator Lois Kolkhorst wrote on X

"This deliberate, heinous act is a reminder of the dangerous work done by our law enforcement and  licensing agencies that work to provide public safety and services. Please join me in praying for the innocent victims and their families at this time," she added.

The unidentified suspect refused treatment, police said. It's unclear what charges he may face.

Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough called the crash in east central Texas a "mass casualty incident" that "was intentional and done by the suspect who was denied a CDL yesterday. He returned today with intent to harm," according to a Facebook post.

The Texas Rangers are investigating.
