Following the major box-office success of 'Barbie,' the 33-year-old actress Margot Robbie and producer is making a 'Monopoly' movie under her LuckyChap banner alongside fellow company heads Josey McNamara and Tom Ackerley, Robbie's husband.

The actress and her production company, LuckyChap, are collaborating with toy giant Hasbro Entertainment and Lionsgate to take a voyage around the board to bring it to life for the big screen news from CinemaCon released on Wednesday.

According to a statement from LuckyChap, it is "a top property - pun fully intended."

Adam Fogelson, the head of Lionsgate's film division, said the studio is "tremendously excited" to work on Robbie's "next blockbuster."

He declared that LuckyChap was the best production team for this adored and recognizable brand. He said they are outstanding producers who join 'Monopoly' with a distinct viewpoint and care.

Founded in 2014, LuckyChap has produced TV series like 'Maid and Dollface' and movies like 'I,' 'Tonya,' 'Promising Young Woman,' and 'Saltburn.' The company aims to expand what female stories and storytellers could do in Hollywood.

'Barbie,' the world record-breaking 2023 smash hit from LuckyChap, earned over $1.4 billion at the global box office and eight Oscar nominations.

Numerous attempts have been made to adapt 'Monopoly' into a movie. In 2008, Ridley Scott was attached to create a comedy based around a Donald Trump-esque tycoon.

In 2019, Tim Story was the director, while Kevin Hart was cast as the lead. It remains unknown what the new version will look like.

With over 275 million copies sold worldwide, 'Monopoly' is the reigning champ of board games.

Furthermore, it appears that Robbie is starting to establish herself as an expert on toy and game-to-film adaptations since she is also preparing to develop a feature film based on the popular computer game 'The Sims' from the 2000s.
