New York and New Jersey experienced serious tremors from an earthquake Friday morning, and it sparked a flurry of humorous remarks and memes on various social platforms.

New York's infamous Empire State Building kicked off the laughs by letting New York residents know in one single tweet — "I AM FINE"

One user tweeted a gif playing a music video for artist, the weeknd, as he runs through a house of mirrors, writing,

"Me not knowing where to run after the earthquake #earthquake"

@PopCulture account posted an iconic photograph of Sexy and the City's journalist Carrie Bradshaw in a famous scene with her laptop and thinking out loud, "As New York was hit by an earthquake, I couldn't help but wonder, were the tecnotic plates as unstable as my history with Big?"

Another joke making its way around the internet is a post of Leonardo DiCaprio pointing forward, with caption,

"People in California seeing Did NYC just have an earthquake trending"

The West Coast seems to be having the most fun though with one user captioning this photo with, "How Californians looking at New Yorkers #earthquake"
