Oscar Mayer has created a device that allows consumers to wake with the smell of bacon.

The meat production giant announced on Wednesday that its latest invention simulates the sounds of bacon sizzling in a hot pan while simultaneously emitting the scent of the crispy treat.

"Oscar Mayer is thrilled to bring the first-ever, bacon-scented mobile device to the market, giving bacon aficionados a new reason to welcome their morning alarm clocks," senior director of integrated marketing and advertising Tom Bick told SF Gate.

When attached to an iPhone, the gadget, aptly named Wake Up and Smell the Bacon, sends out the scents and sounds of bacon on demand. People can then set their morning alarms to feature the Oscar Mayer app and rise with a digital breakfast.

The Wake Up and Smell the Bacon device is only available online. Bacon hopefuls must submit an application at wakeupandsmellthebacon.com - Oscar Mayer officials will then distribute a limited number of the gadgets to a lucky handful.

"With nearly two million mentions of #bacon on Instagram, it seems people never get tired of bacon," Bick added. "That's why our team decided to develop a device to give folks what they long for most."

Breakfast enthusiasts who don't succeed in snagging one of these gadgets online can download an app that produces the sound of a sizzling grill, but doesn't emit a bacon smell.
