Microsoft OneDrive app arrives on BlackBerry App World letting owners of BlackBerry 10 smartphones to automatically backup their photos and videos seamlessly. Microsoft is adding another platform support for its controversial OneDrive, which was previously known as SkyDrive. After a legal dispute with UK's broadband carrier Sky, Microsoft was forced the rename its cloud storage service with a new, yet a similar moniker. The software giant changed the name of the app on all platforms including Android, iOS, OS X and Windows Phone apps and the latest addition brings the app to BlackBerry 10 smarpthones, starting Tuesday. The OneDrive cloud storage app launched for BlackBerry 10 OS marks a significant step in Microsoft's efforts to attract more customers towards its cloud storage service, and win over against rival apps like Box. The app will be available for the new BlackBerry 10-based devices including the Z10, Z30, Q5, Q10 and the limited edition Porsche Design P9982. The OneDrive app, which is officially named "Connect to Microsoft OneDrive," is a personal cloud storage service that lets customers store photos, videos and documents on cloud, automatically. The upgraded app includes new features like improved video sharing and also lets users comment and edit documents. The app minimizes the risk of losing important photos, videos and documents. New users downloading the app will receive 7GB of free storage and Microsoft offers a "Refer a friend" scheme that gives 500MB free storage each time a user recommends the app to another user. But there is a limit of up to 10 referrals, or 5GB. Also, if BlackBerry 10 smartphone users opt for an automatic update of photos and videos to OneDrive, Microsoft will offer an additional 3GB free cloud storage. In addition to bringing the app to a new platform, Microsoft also rolled out updates to Android, iOS, Windows Phone and other platforms. BlackBerry 10 users can download the free app from Blackberry App World. The app has received a positive response from a handful of reviewers, with an average 4.5 out of 5-star rating.
