A 29-year-old woman lost both of her feet after she was shoved in front of an oncoming New York City subway train Saturday morning - allegedly by her boyfriend, who was being sought by police, according to local reports.

The victim and her boyfriend were arguing on a train platform in Manhattan's Fulton Street station around 10:30 a.m. when he allegedly pushed her onto the tracks, police sources told the New York Post and NBC New York.

"They were arguing and he pushed her," one anonymous police source told the Post.

A Brooklyn-bound 3 train pulling into the station struck the woman, reports said.

The Post reported that the train severed the woman's feet, while other outlets, including WABC, reported that the extent of her injuries necessitated amputation.

Bystanders reportedly tried to tend to the woman's wounds before emergency responders arrived and brought her to an area hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.

The woman's boyfriend fled the station and was being sought by the NYPD as of Saturday afternoon, reports said.

He was not immediately identified by name, but was last seen wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans and a dark colored jacket, according to NBC New York.

The nature of the couple's argument was not immediately clear.
