Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has accumulated numerous titles throughout his career - from wrestler and movie star to rapper and tequila mogul - and he now proudly possesses many of those titles.

As to a filing with the SEC, the 'Pain & Gain' actor is now the true owner of his stage name, 'The Rock,' along with several other monikers, slogans, and taglines from his professional wrestling career, as per to Entertainment.

The intellectual property rights to a wide variety of names, taglines, and trademarks have been bought by Dwayne Johnson,  in a deal that is connected to his nomination to the board of directors of TKO Group Holdings.

This is an important step that has the potential to revolutionize the marketing industry. A strategic partnership that considerably enhances Johnson's influence over his brand led to the formation of this business, which was the outcome of the merger between WWE and the UFC that was known as Endeavor.

The transfer of rights was revealed in TKO's recent 10-K filing with the SEC, where it was disclosed that Johnson now has ownership of his iconic ring name, 'The Rock,' along with several other names and taglines that were previously the property of WWE. 

Under the terms of the agreement, Johnson also gained control of related logos, service marks, and various elements associated with his time as a WWE performer. This encompasses not only The Rock but also his signature tagline, "If you smell what the rock is cooking," and even extends to in-ring insults like "Jabroni," "Candy A**," "Roody Poo," and "Know your role and shut your mouth," according to Variety.

WWE Persona Rights Beyond Intellectual Property

The IP Assignment Agreement specifies Johnson's ownership of intellectual property rights to nicknames, caricatures, voice, signature, gestures, routines, costumes, accessories, and crowns linked to his WWE persona. The deal is not only limited to verbal elements but also includes control over distinctive moves such as the "Rock Bottom" and "People's Elbow."

Beyond the intellectual property realm, Johnson received a stock award valued at $30 million as part of a promotional services agreement with TKO. The stock award will vest over time, showcasing a significant investment in Johnson's role within the company.

Additionally, the WWE has secured a license to utilize The Rock's intellectual property for specific categories and products over the next decade. During this period, Johnson is restricted from licensing the intellectual property to entities in competition with TKO.

This strategic move marks a notable development in the intersection of entertainment, sports. It solidifies his status as a Hollywood icon and increases his market power as a smart investor, Hollywood Reporter reported.
