'Jenny from the Block' singer Jennifer Lopez made the reason behind her first breakup with Ben Affleck in 2003 a secret in public.

The singer was engaged to the Oscar winner in the early 2000s before their 2003 breakup. Lopez revealed she experienced severe heartache before rekindling her romance with him in 2022.

Lopez Exposes Real Reason Behind Breakup With Affleck

In her new documentary 'The Greatest Love Story Never Told,' Lopez said, "Ben and I, we broke up three days before our wedding." "We had a big wedding planned-14 ushers and bridesmaids-and three days before, we just crumbled under the pressure."

Affleck echoed the sentiment in the Amazon Prime documentary that the massive scrutiny around their private life was the real reason behind their split.

The couple agreed that postponing their initial wedding sent them on a path of self-discovery that ultimately led to their reunion in 2021. They tied the knot in July 2022 in a ceremony in Las Vegas, and the following month, they said "I do" at a lavish wedding in Georgia.

As Lopez recalled their time apart, she said that for all those years, it was really hard because she did not just feel like she lost the love of her life, but she felt like she lost the best friend that she ever had. She shared that she could not talk for many years, which was the hardest part.

The Grammy winner admitted that she was angry at Affleck for a while. However, she continued that the heartbreak set them on a course to figure themselves out to be better people.

During that period, Lopez gave birth to her 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme, who she shares with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony. Meanwhile, Affleck and his ex-wife Jennifer Garner welcomed three children named Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 11.

Furthermore, Lopez achieved serenity by forgiving Affleck and herself for their past issues.

"I feel like I came out the other side," she said in the documentary. "I've made it through. I've made something good of my life. I'm proud of that."

Lopez Expresses Love for Affleck

According to Mirror Online, despite their ups and downs, the couple appears to be obsessed with one another. The 54-year-old actress complimented her partner, claiming that he helped her develop her confidence in a way no one else ever could.

Teary-eyed Lopez admitted that what he said and saw in her, and what he made her believe about herself, only comes from love. She said nobody else could have made her see that about herself, so it was very moving.

Furthermore, Lopez discussed in the documentary how her spouse served as the inspiration for her self-produced album. She even had her musicians read handwritten love letters from Affleck over the years that inspired the record while recording it.

Despite Lopez's admission that Affleck felt "uncomfortable" being in the center of the piece, he gladly encouraged her and stayed by her side the entire time.
