At least six members of a Philadelphia-area family were reported to be unaccounted for after police responded to a shooting incident in the residence on Wednesday (Feb. 7)

Authorities said that an 11-year-old girl in a house in East Lansdowne was shot, and two responding officers were also injured by gunfire at the scene. They were also concerned that several people were trapped inside the house when the fire broke out, Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer said in a news conference.

The person who shot at the officers is believed to be among the people who are unaccounted for, Stollsteimer also told CNN affiliate KYW-TV in a separate interview.

"We are afraid there might be more than one person in that house," he said at the news conference. "We know the victim's family had a lot of people living in that house, including children."

Neighbors also described the burned household as a multi-generational family who was living in the house for at least five years.

Responding Officers Shot At, Police Say

Officers from three different agencies responded to a 911 call on Wednesday afternoon and were "immediately met by gunfire," Stollsteimer said.

The two officers who were shot were "dragged out of danger" and were taken to a Philadelphia hospital for treatment. Both are expected to make a full recovery as their injuries were not life-threatening.

After officers responded to the scene, the house was set ablaze, trapping at least six people inside, including the shooter. The fire lasted for four hours before firefighters put it out.

Investigations regarding the shooting and the fire are underway.
