GCash has been removed from the Google Play Store. This was first noticed by Filipinos early morning on Thursday, February 1. It all started when Deep Web Konek posted about the disappearance of the payment app on Play Store.

GCash is very popular in the Philippines; serving as the equivalent application of Venmo in the United States. It offers various features, such as cashless payments, cash out, load, etc.

This is many GCash has been a part of Filipinos' daily lives. However, many users are now concerned since the popular payment app is no longer available on Google Play Store. Although the application can still be accessed by those who already have it, its disappearance from the Play Store still concerns many Filipinos.

Via its official Facebook post, Deep Web Konek said that GCash mysteriously disappeared from the Play Store. The source urged users to monitor their GCash account's activities.

Deep Web Konek also warned Filipinos to not install the payment app from any third-party websites as this could put their sensitive details at risk of hacking. Since GCash has been removed from the Google Play Store, it would be best for Filipino users not to uninstall the app until the issue is fixed.

A few hours after Deep Web Konek posted its announcement, GCash released an advisory via its official Facebook account.

"GCash is updating some features of the app for Android users and is closely working with Google to make it available on the Play Store again," said GCash.

"For users who wish to download the app from the Google Play Store, kindly stay tuned for more updates," it added.

Why Did Google Play Store Remove GCash?

GCash didn't specifically provide the main reason for the app's removal from the Play Store. However, it warned users not to believe news claiming that the payment application will close down.

"Current GCash users can use the app and they can be assured that their accounts and funds are safe and secure," explained GCash.
