Iranian-backed Houthi militants fired one anti-ship cruise missile from Yemen toward the Red Sea on Tuesday (Jan. 30).

According to the Pentagon and the US Central Command, the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Gravely, which was in the area, shot it down.

No injuries or damage were reported, the command's report added.

On the other hand, Houthi military spokesperson Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree claimed that the attack was "a victory for the oppression of the Palestinian people" and a "response to the American-British aggression" against the regime. Saree added that they have fired "several" missiles, which was not acknowledged by the US Navy.

The Associated Press reported that the Houthi claims have not been verified for the most part.

Since November, the rebels have been targeting shipping traffic in the Red Sea in support of Hamas in its war against Israel.
