Samsung unveils its new Galaxy 24 product line with the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24, and Galaxy S24 Ultra that come with AI capabilities.

Samsung's new mobile line is said to feature a real-time translation tool for voice calls and texts, a Chat Assist tool that would suggest the right tone for messages, and note and transcription tools. The latter can be used to transcribe conversations, translate them, and summarize them.

People will have to be willing to make a hefty investment if they want to own one of the phone maker's latest products. Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S24 will have a starting price of $800, the S24+ starting at $1,000, and the S24 Ultra starting at $1,300, as per the Daily Mail.

The launch of the latest mobile device line comes as artificial intelligence has become the key technology trend in the sector over the past year. More and more companies have been looking for ways to introduce consumers to the tech through their products.

Samsung's S24 range will be among the first devices to utilize Google's Circle to Search feature. This enables users to circle, highlight, or tap on anything on-screen, such as a landmark in a video or a piece of furniture, and conduct a web search on the point of interest that a user has selected.

The advanced feature can be used within any app that runs on the mobile device and has so far only been confirmed for launch on the S24 range as well as Google's flagship Pixel 8 phones. The new products' AI tools have also been extended to the camera, providing new editing tools to allow users to recompose images as well as use generative AI to fill in gaps when subjects in photos are moved.

AI Technology on Mobile Devices

The S24 series' Galaxy AI uses a combination of on-device and cloud-based generative AI. The new features this provides include turning a regular-speed video into a slow-motion one by generating frames in between what has been recorded, according to CNET.

Samsung's new product line also has more conventional upgrades compared to its predecessors, particularly with the top-tier model the S24 Ultra. The latter is more premium and sacrifices its aluminum frame for a titanium body.

It also trades its 10-megapixel, 10x optical zoom camera for a 50-megapixel, 5x optical camera to shoot sharper distance photos. On the other hand, the S24 and S24+ are quite similar to other phones but the latter now has a Quad HD Plus resolution display that provides a sharper picture than the HD Plus screen that was fitted on its predecessor.

The unveiling of the new product line was made at the company's Kings Cross officers in London earlier this week. Before the official reveal, the company talked up the phone's AI capabilities and showed what it was capable of, said CNBC.
