The Space Mountain attraction at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., has reopened following repairs necessitated by a safety violation, according to reports.

The ride was reopened Friday night at 6:30 pm, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The 36-year old popular ride was closed in April after a contractor fell and suffered broken bones while cleaning Space Mountain's slanted roof. A month earlier, a machinist was critically injured when he was hit by a speeding vehicle during ride tests before the park opened.

The state officials said that the safety rules were violated, which led to issue a safety citation to the Anaheim resort. The contract company was fined nearly $61,000 for safety violation. Besides, a penalty of nearly $235,000 was proposed by the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health against Disney in connection with the contractor's injury.

The state agency has not decided if follow-up inspections are needed, according to a spokesman for the Division of Occupational Safety and Health, the Los Angeles Times reports.

"We constantly strive to maintain a safe work environment for our cast members and contractors and we are reviewing certain protocols", read a statement from Disneyland on the ride closures.

Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated a "year of repairs" in the headline, instead of a month of repairs.
