Microsoft has quietly launched its Copilot AI for free as a ChatGPT-like app for Android devices that is equipped with the usual AI features and capabilities.

The app is freely available at Google Play since its first debuted roughly a week ago and it can be used even without an account. However, it requires users to sign in using their Microsoft account if they want to gain access to more questions and longer conversations with the AI chatbot.

Microsoft quietly launched its Copilot AI chatbot on Android devices as a free app on Google Play Store equipped with usual AI features and capabilities.

Users can start with sample questions or dive into the app with their own requests. They can also type their question at the prompt or speak to the AI by tapping the microphone button. The Copilot AI also allows users to upload a photo or other image and ask it to analyze the sample.

The app has GPT-4 that can be enabled to get more reliable and accurate responses. Switching between Light and Dark modes can be done based on preferences. On the app's product page, it is said that Copilot is a pioneering chat assistant from Microsoft that is powered by the latest OpenAI models, GPT-4 and DALL-E 3, as per ZDNet.

The company added that the app's advanced AI technologies provide fast, complex, and precise responses. It also said that they have the ability to create breathtaking visuals from simple text descriptions.

The tech giant has been working on infusing the word Copilot and its technology into many of its products. This has resulted in Copilot going into Windows, Microsoft 365, Azure, GitHub, and many others.

Microsoft has even renamed its Bing Chat platform to Copilot and the launch of a dedicated app within the Copilot name is the latest way to further the brand and its concept. Despite the widespread use of the company's new innovation, the latest release is limited to Android and iPhone users will not immediately be able to take advantage of the AI Chatbot on their devices.

The Android app launch of Copilot comes as Microsoft originally launched its AI push earlier this year inside its Bing search engine. The tech giant integrated a ChatGPT-like interface into its search results, according to The Verge.

Advancing Copilot AI Technology

While that particular piece of technology is still available, Microsoft has dropped the Bing Chat branding and has made Copilot more of a standalone experience. It also exists on its dedicated domain at copilot.microsoft.com, similar to that of OpenAI's ChatGPT.

The launch of Copilot on mobile devices seems to be the next logical step in expanding Microsoft's new AI technology. While there are no suggestions that an iOS version is coming out, many enthusiasts are expecting one to come around soon.

In a blog post earlier this month, Microsoft said it has taken a significant step to bringing together a variety of its products under one brand. It noted that survey data showed that Copilot for Microsoft 365 makes users more productive and faster in finishing overall tasks such as searching and writing.

Microsoft is committing to bringing more innovation and advanced capabilities to its Coplot AI to provide users with the leading way to benefit from AI. These include a variety of services and technologies that improve upon the base app, said Microsoft.
