Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has claimed that the West's "500-year domination of the world" is ending.

In a speech aired in Qatar, Lavrov accused Western allies of trying to weaken his country in Ukraine but said that Russia had actually been strengthened by the conflict, just as it was after defeating Adolf Hitler and Napoleon, as per Express.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - SEPTEMBER 23: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov holds a press conference during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at the United Nations headquarters on September 23, 2023 in New York City. Heads of state and governments from at least 145 countries are gathered for the 78th UNGA session amid the ongoing war in Ukraine and natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods and fires around the globe.

Lavrov likened the ongoing war in Ukraine to Russia's past battles and spoke of the "hybrid war" that the West is supposedly waging against his country as being based on "cancel culture." He also predicted that the West would soon see that Russia had grown more powerful as a result of the ongoing conflict.

Lavrov's comments were controversial, not least because he is sanctioned by both the UK and the EU. The speech comes during a time of great tension between Russia and the West, with the US, in particular, having recently announced that it will resume military aid to Ukraine. Lavrov's comments are likely to be seen as an attempt to paint Russia as a victim of Western aggression in order to justify Moscow's own actions in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev has predicted that "new rivers of blood will flow," warning that the globe has not been closer to a nuclear World War Three since the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962.

He criticized the Biden administration's attempts to force the US Congress to approve more military support for Ukraine and described it as "extortion" for a country that he said was "corrupted," according to The Sun.

Ukraine's Dire Warning as Conflict Enters Third Year

The situation in Ukraine is becoming increasingly dangerous as it enters its third year of conflict. Olena Zelenska, the first lady of Ukraine, recently warned that the world would "let Ukrainians die" if it did not continue its support. Ms. Zelenska said that a slowdown in aid represents a "mortal danger" and that it is a matter of life and death. The White House has warned that a failure to provide further aid by the end of the year could be catastrophic for Ukrainians.

A spokesperson for Putin's foreign ministry recently threatened strikes against other NATO countries as the Kremlin warned that a nuclear war is closer than at any time since the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962.

Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian foreign ministry, warned NATO that the advanced F-16 fighters supplied to Ukraine by the US will be a fair target for Russia if they are based in NATO countries. She said that the fourth-generation fighter jets could be based in Poland, Slovakia, and Romania, which would mean that NATO is "getting deeper" into the Ukrainian conflict.

The escalating tensions between Ukraine and Russia are worrying for Europe and the rest of the world, especially as both countries possess a nuclear arsenal. The possibility of military escalation, combined with the deterioration of the humanitarian situation, makes it imperative that the international community act now to resolve the situation peacefully, Daily Mail reported.
