Doherty's journey with breast cancer began in 2015 when she was first diagnosed. She underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments, and in 2017, she announced on Instagram that she was in remission.

However, her battle took a new turn when the cancer returned in 2019, this time as metastatic stage 4 cancer. In June, Doherty revealed that the cancer had spread to her brain, requiring surgery to remove a tumor she affectionately named "Bob."

Throughout her ordeal, she has maintained a positive outlook, searching for a deeper purpose in life.

"When you ask yourself, 'Why me? Why did I get cancer?' and then, 'Why did my cancer come back? Why am I stage 4?' that leads you to look for the bigger purpose in life," Doherty explained.

Despite her health struggles and the emotional toll of her battle, Doherty is not giving up on finding love once more. She recently shared her openness to dating again.

"I was not ready at all before three weeks ago," she admitted. "There's always a trigger, just a moment that you have, somebody says something to you, your ex says one thing to you, and you're like, 'OK, yeah, I'm good. I'm good.' I have closure, and I can move on in a really healthy way," according to Mail Online.

Shannen Doherty Opens for New Relationship

The actress, who separated from her husband Kurt Iswarienko earlier in the year, is exploring the possibility of a new relationship. She expressed uncertainty about whether she would prefer a safe, known connection or the excitement of something entirely new.

"I don't know if it's that or if it's stumbling upon somebody and just feeling an instant connection," she said. "I'm open, and I wasn't [before]."

Doherty's optimism shines through despite her ongoing health challenges. She believes that she won't be single forever and is committed to self-love and personal growth as she looks forward to what the future may hold.

As her acting career spans over four decades, Doherty has left an indelible mark on Hollywood with roles in iconic series like "Charmed," "Heathers," "21 Jump Street," "Little House on the Prairie," and "Our House." Her resilience in the face of adversity continues to inspire many, showing that life's battles can't extinguish the flame of hope and the pursuit of love.

"I don't want to die," Doherty declared. "I'm not done with living. I'm not done with loving. I'm not done with creating. I'm not done with hopefully changing things for the better. I'm just not - I'm not done."

Despite the misconceptions that often surround cancer patients, Doherty's story stands as a testament to the indomitable spirit and determination that many individuals facing similar challenges possess. She reminds us all that life is a precious gift, and every moment is an opportunity to cherish and make a difference, New York Post reported.
