Google has finally introduced the Nexus-5 exclusive Google Now launcher for  all Nexus devices as well as Google Play Edition from Samsung, Motorola, LG and HTC.

Google finally brought the most-awaited app launcher, the Google Now, which first debuted on Nexus 5, to all Nexus branded smartphones and Google Play Edition devices from Samsung, Motorola, LG and HTC. The app launcher, previously known as Google Home or the Google Experience Launcher, brings features like Google Now cards and notifications on the home screen, prompt voice recognition with "OK, Google" command and more.

Google introduced the Nexus 5 smartphone last year and brought several changes to its mobile OS. The most significant introduction was the launch of highly-publicized Android 4.4 KitKat alongside the company's flagship smartphone. With the new OS, came a new app launcher for Nexus 5 smartphones. Though other Nexus handsets were updated with KitKat, Google Now launcher was limited to Nexus 5 series. The latest update to the launcher changes that and brings other Nexus and GPE handsets under supported device list.

Google Now Launcher makes it easy to use Google Search, send text messages, get directions and play songs, all with just voice-commands. The new launcher brings Nexus 5-like experience on other devices. The launcher also includes transparent status and navigations bars, new wallpapers and large icons. A migration tool helps users retain their app icons from previous home screen app, but does not alter the phone's setting or notification drawer.

The Google Now Launcher can be downloaded for free from the Play Store. Available only to Android 4.4 KitKat and above, all Nexus devices including Nexus 4 and Nexus 7, along with Google Play Edition devices with Android KitKat including HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4, can get the new home screen experience.
