Decapitated Head of Grandmother Recovered by Santa Rosa Police

According to CBS News' latest report, Santa Rosa police officers found the head of the grandmother on Saturday, Nov. 4. They recovered it from the south bank of the Santa Rosa Creek near the Prince Memorial Greenway.

This allowed them to identify the victim as 64-year-old Elvia Lopez-Arroyo, a resident of Santa Rosa. After that, they brought the decapitated head to the Sonoma County Coroner's Office for further examination.

Before the missing human part was discovered, authorities said that the suspect, Gustavo Aroyo-Lopez, killed the victim in a targeted attack. He then left the crime scene with the victim's head.

Aside from finding the grandmother's head, the Santa Rosa police also clarified that Gustavo wasn't 24 years old but was 23 years old.

They also confirmed that multiple weapons were found in the Californian residence. However, investigators still need to examine these deadly items before police officials can identify the exact murder weapon used.

As of writing, Gustavo is facing numerous charges of murder, as well as PRCS (Postrelease Community Supervision) violations. He wasn't granted bail and is still in custody.

Unfortunately, they didn't catch the suspect during that day. They were only able to arrest Gustavo on Nov. 4 after he was seen leaving the crime scene on foot.
