Thousands of area police officers and law enforcement personnel attended the funeral. Simonsen was killed by friendly fire while responding with fellow NYPD officers.

The New York Post reported that Jason Pass killed his neighbors because of a noise dispute. The victims were identified as 47-year-old school bus driver Bladimy Mathurin and his stepson Chinwai Mode (27-year-old).

Authorities said that the incident specifically happened on the 4th floor of a 1418 Brooklyn Avenue apartment. They added that the issue started when Pass banged on his neighbor's door.

He was first confronted by Mode's mother. After that, his stepfather decided to aggressively confront Jason. Based on the video, Bladimy was holding a pair of scissors; holding it at Jason's face.

Although the videos on X have no audio, you can see that Bladimy and Jason were arguing with one another in a very aggressive manner.

After that, the woman tried to stop the school bus driver, separating the two neighbors for a few seconds. Jason took this chance to pull out his gun.

Bladimy was seen ordering the woman to go back inside. In a split second, the man was shot by Jason from behind. The stepson tried snatching the weapon from Jason, however, he was also shot in the chest.

The shooter went near Bladimy, who was already lying face down on the floor, to take another shot to ensure that he was dead. After killing his victims, Jason went back to his room like nothing happened.
