According to the Independent UK's latest report, Matthew Perry was found dead in his home in Los Angeles on Saturday, Oct. 28. Authorities said that the new police were called at around 4:00 p.m.

He was found unresponsive and was later pronounced dead. Law enforcement officials said that Matthew died in an apparent drowning in his bathtub.

Los Angeles police officers from the West LA Division were the ones who specifically responded to the scene. They said that they received a 911 call about a water emergency of an unknown type.

NBC News reported that the LAPD's Robbery-Homicide Division, which focuses on probing high-profile crimes and cases involving celebrities, also helped LA police officers.

Based on the latest information they acquired, the case of Matthew Perry was a death investigation with no signs of foul play.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner is expected to conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death of the American actor.

On X (formerly called Twitter), Facebook, and other social media platforms, many fans of "Friends" bid Matthew Perry farewell, saying that he was one of the actors who brought joy during their saddest moments.

"The guy had such ruthless wit, nobody was safe from it. The world is suddenly less amazing now you're gone, Matthew," said an X user.

Meanwhile, other fans recalled what the American/Canadian actor said previously. Based on their screenshots, the celebrity said that if he dies, he is sure that many people will talk about "Friends" and he will be glad of that.

Matthew added that he is satisfied and happy that he was able to bring joy to many people across the world.

"But, when I die, as far as my so-called accomplishments go, it would be nice if 'Friends' were listed far behind the things I did to try to help other people," said Perry via @ATDazzle's X screenshot.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also shared his experience with Matthew Perry, saying that the actor was one of his friends at school.

Trudeau said that the death of Chandler was shocking and saddening. He added that he will never forget the schoolyard games they used to play together.
