US actor Will Smith and his wife actress Jada Pinkett Smith arrive for the premiere of Apple Original Films' "Emancipation" at the Regency Village Theatre in Westwood, California, on November 30, 2022.

Actor Will Smith responded to his wife Jada Pinkett Smith's revelations regarding their turbulent relationship.

Jada made these statements in her upcoming memoir titled 'Worthy' set to be released on October 17th, as per Variety.

Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith Separation

Jada's candid discussion gave a fresh perspective on her marriage, challenging the misconceptions surrounding her relationship with Will. Most notably, she addressed the widely-publicized "entanglement" with singer August Alsina, a topic she and Will discussed on Red Table Talk in July 2020.

Jada clarified that she did not cheat on Will. She emphasized that her memoir would give readers a deeper understanding of the reasons behind the Red Table Talk and their relationship's complexities.

During the Red Table Talk episode, Jada revealed that she and Will had decided to separate for a period. However, what came as a surprise was that their separation had lasted seven years, unbeknownst to the public.

Despite this long separation, Jada expressed that she and Will had reached a "wonderful place" and felt content after finishing her memoir. Based on Jada, one of the reasons behind their extended separation was the weight of public perception.

In their quest to uphold the public's perception of them as an ideal family, the couple succumbed to societal expectations, which strained their relationship. However, the couple realized their efforts to live up to this image were unrealistic and sought therapy to resolve their issues.

Jada emphasized the love they shared and the journey they had undertaken separately and together, according to Entertainment Tonight.

Jada and Will Smith's Unique Partnership Pledge

Regarding the decision to keep their separation a secret, Jada admitted they were not ready to share it with the public, still figuring out how to navigate their partnership.

In 2016, they decided they had grown exhausted from trying to maintain an idealized image of each other. Nevertheless, they promised each other that they would never allow their marriage to end in divorce.

Jada affirmed that divorce was not on the table at the moment. They loved their family and each other, focusing on a life partnership rather than an ordinary marriage. Their future, however, remains uncertain, as Jada remarked, "Ten years from now, Hoda, who knows?"

While Jada revealed her side of the story, Will Smith shared his thoughts on the situation. In an email published in the New York Times, Will referred to Jada as "resilient, clever, and compassionate" and acknowledged the emotional blindness that had set in after being together for more than half of their lives.

As per Jada, the Smiths' relationship hit a crossroads seven years ago, leading to their separation. In her interview with Hoda Kotb, Jada expressed that they had been stuck in their fantasies about each other, which had contributed to their exhaustion in maintaining the facade of the perfect couple.

This revelation about their marriage comes after a controversial incident at the 2022 Oscars when Will slapped comedian Chris Rock for joking about Jada's shaved head, related to her alopecia. Will subsequently apologized for his actions, but the incident significantly impacted their public image.

Jada Pinkett Smith's 'Worthy' memoir allows readers to gain deeper insights into the complexities of her relationship with Will. Her willingness to share their challenges and their resilience has opened up a new chapter in their lives and possibly a different perspective on love and commitment.

Only time will reveal where their life partnership will lead, but they continue to navigate their unique journey together for now, Mail Online reported.
