Biden Calls Hamas Attack on Israel 'Act of Sheer Evil'
(Photo: Wall Street Journal/YouTube) US President Joe Biden has renewed his country’s condemnation of Hamas’s attack, calling it ‘an act of sheer evil.’

US President Joe Biden denounced Hamas and stressed US support for Israel in his latest speech about what people described as the bloodiest day in Israel since the Holocaust.

In a speech on Tuesday (October 10), he mourned the death of over 1,000 people, including at least 14 Americans, from a coordinated surprise attack by the Palestinian militant group.

Biden also expressed concern for Americans being held hostage by the Iranian-supported Islamist group Hamas, Reuters reported.

"There are moments in this life and I mean this literally when pure unadulterated evil is unleashed on this world. The people of Israel lived through one such moment this weekend," he said. "This is an act of sheer evil."

Biden also offered support for American Jews, saying that they should be allowed to worship in peace in the US. This remark was also in conjunction with his previous speech saying antisemitism in the country had risen to record levels.

"At this moment, we must be crystal clear: We stand with Israel," Biden addressed the public.

US Aims to Help Israel

Prior to the speech, the White House reported that Biden got to talk with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Biden outlined in his speech Washington's military assistance being sent to help Israel in its fight.

The president also offered an overview of the actions the United States is taking with allies around the world to support Israel.

Earlier this week, the White House said it expected to fulfill additional security requests from Israel as quickly as possible.

While the US was not planning to put American boots on the ground, White House national security spokesperson John Kirby told reporters that Israel has called up an unprecedented 300,000 of its own reservists to stem the Arab tide.

In addition, Biden and Netanyahu have forged a wartime partnership following the Hamas attack.
