Jimmy Butler broke the internet after he decided to have a new "emo" look. On Monday, Oct. 2, the Miami Heat power forward arrived at the NBA team's media day with straightened hair, piercings, and even painted fingernails.

This is the second time he showed the world a new look during a media conference. In 2022, the basketball player's braided hair extensions also attracted a lot of attention.

But, this time, his emo look really takes the spotlight. Is this Butler's regular look or just for the show?

According to NBC News' latest report, Jimmy Butler explained why he decided to get an emo look. Of course, the media room broke out with laughter.
But, the small forward was unbothered by what other people said about his emo appearance.

"Yeah, yeah, laugh it up. I'm very emotional right now. This is my emo state and I like this. This is me. This is how I'm feeling as of late," said the Miami Heat superstar.

When Jimmy Butler's photos spread on the internet, many netizens quickly noticed his peculiar look. Some of them said that the NBA player's new appearance is similar to that of emo bands back in the early 2000s.

These include the musicians of popular bands, such as Panic! at the Disco, Fall Out Boy, and Secondhand Serenade. Jimmy Butler also committed to his new emo character by posting his own photoshoot shots.

"Cuz tonight will be the night that I will ball for yewwww," jokingly captioned the basketball star.

If you are a fan of the Secondhand Serenade, then you will know that Jimmy's caption came from the band's popular song "Fall for You." After that, netizens began giving him funny names, such as "Panic! At the Free Throw," "Ball Out Boy," and "Heat Wentz."

But, it was clarified that his emo look is not his regular appearance. The New York Times reported that the Miami Heat star was already seen showing up in his normal dreadlocks before the start of the last NBA season.
