BERLIN, GERMANY - SEPTEMBER 16: A visitor tries out an Apple iPhone 7 on the first day of sales of the new phone at the Berlin Apple store on September 16, 2016 in Berlin, Germany. The new phone comes in two sizes, one with a 4.7 inch display, the other with a 5.5 inch display.

As per a report by Gizmodo, Apple rolled out its latest Rapid Security Response updates to its devices, such as the iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

If you are using any or all of these devices, the new emergency security patch smashes a critical bug, which the tech giant says hackers are actively exploiting. It means skipping this urgent update exposes users to potential cyberattacks, which could expose their personal information to criminal minds.

According to 9to5 Mac, the latest security update addresses a critical vulnerability that the iPhone maker believes cyberattackers are actively exploiting to pounce on their victims. In other words, the new security patch, available via iOS 16.5.1 and iPadOS 16.5.1, packs a powerful punch against cybercriminals attempting to exploit vulnerabilities in Apple devices.

Gizmodo highlights that the latest Rapid Security Response update patches the CVE-2023-37450 security bug. It is worth noting that Mac users could also get their hands on the emergency update through macOS Venture 13.4.1.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - MAY 19: Apple Store employees look at a display of MacBook laptops during a press preview of the new flagship Apple Store on May 19, 2016 in San Francisco, California.

Apple is dishing out its latest Rapid Security Response update for iPhone, iPad, and Mac users automatically. However, users might have to restart their devices before the update completes, smashing the critical vulnerabilities.

After restarting your device, here's how to check if you got the latest version.

For iPad and iPhone users, head to "Settings." Then, tap "General" and select "Software Update." As Forbes reports, the iOS or iPadOS version should be 16.5.1 (a). It is a mini update since it is less than 3MB.

The security update is compatible with iPhones released last 2017 and beyond. It means that iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, and iPhone XS users could still get their hands on it.

On the other hand, if you are a Mac user, whether it is a MacBook or a Mac Mini, and so on, the process to complete the update is pretty straightforward and similar to iPhones and iPads. To start, select the Apple menu button. And from there, click the "System Settings" option and choose "General." Lastly, click "Software Update" to start installing the emergency update.
