A Loomis truck rolled and crashed on the side of I-96, scattering money around the scene.

Numerous bags of coins and cash were littered across part of Interstate 96 (I-96) near Windsor, Michigan, after the armored Loomis truck carrying them rolled and landed on its roof in a ditch Wednesday afternoon (July 5).

In a Twitter post, the Michigan State Police explained the crash happened as the truck was traveling eastbound near Waverly Road. It attempted to stop for traffic but was unable to, clipping the passenger-side quarter panel of a Chevrolet Traverse and losing control.

The truck's two occupants suffered minor injuries, while the other car's driver was not hurt.

Money on the Road

While the truck was rolling down the ditch, its rear doors flew open and broke the hinges, while the money bags it carried scattered coins and cash around the crash site. Since the truck rolled into the ditch, traffic on I-96 was not affected.

The destination and purpose of the money being carried in the truck remains unknown, and there was also no word on whether it was recovered after the crash.
