Chris Christie called Donald Trump a "three-time loser" and slammed Ron DeSantis for pandering to former president's supporters.

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie used a 90-minute CNN town hall on Tuesday to present the most compelling conservative argument to date against Donald Trump being the 2024 Republican presidential nominee.

In front of a live audience that included electors from the first four primary states, the former governor of New Jersey issued a stern warning to the country. Christie, who previously supported Trump, stated that he altered his mind when Trump began spreading fraudulent claims about losing the 2020 presidential election.

Chris Christie Calls Trump a 'Loser'

In an expanding primary field, Christie has attempted to distinguish himself by launching vicious attacks against the front-runner.

However, he was also asked about his own views and policy prescriptions on issues such as abortion and gun control, as well as how he intends to ascend the Republican mountain and challenge Democratic President Joe Biden.

Christie immediately portrayed Trump as a lunatic and positioned the 2024 Republican primary as the best chance to prevent the former president from using the nation to resolve personal and political grudges.

Christie, a former US attorney, prosecuted the case against Trump primarily through the lens of character, characterizing the reality TV star and real estate magnate as a "selfish" candidate and "three-time loser" who has not served the Republican Party well since 2016.

According to USA Today, Christie stated that the latest indictment against Trump, for wrongfully removing sensitive and classified information from the White House and concealing the documents from federal investigators, is "tight and replete with evidence."

Christie Slams DeSantis

Chris Christie also criticized Ron DeSantis on Monday for "playing games" with supporters of Donald Trump in order to earn their vote.

Christie, who is competing with DeSantis, Trump, and others for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, stated that DeSantis and the other candidates are purchasing time until Trump implodes, at which point they will seize his supporters.

Christie has previously assailed DeSantis, particularly for the Florida governor's conflict with Disney, claiming that DeSantis' actions demonstrated he was not a conservative. He declared his candidacy for the presidential nomination last week.

Christie ran in the 2016 Republican presidential primary but withdrew after losing the New Hampshire primary. Currently, he is polling at less than one percent for the 2024 Republican nomination, trailing DeSantis by more than 20 points and Trump by more than 50 points.

Christie, who began his career as a federal prosecutor, came out striking during his CNN town hall moderated by Anderson Cooper.

He claimed that Trump was acting out about his federal indictment because he was angry that he lost to Joe Biden, and he predicted that the former president would stand trial this winter on 37 federal charges relating to his possession of classified documents.

At one stage, Christie was close with Trump. He was considered for the position of White House chief of staff, but did not receive it. During the 2020 presidential campaign, he assisted him in preparing for his debates with Joseph Biden.

Per Daily Mail, Christie also predicted that the federal indictment against Trump would yield additional information. The 49-page indictment alleges that Trump intentionally lied to the Department of Justice, convinced his attorneys to go along with his scheme, and boasted about having illegally obtained documents.

In 31 of the 37 counts against Trump, he is accused of retaining secret and top-secret classified documents after departing the White House in early 2021. Christie, who served as United States Attorney from January 17, 2002 to December 1, 2008, called it a "speaking indictment."
