Authorities confirmed a shooting incident at a Red River, New Mexico, motorcycle event that resulted in at least three deaths and multiple injuries.

Mayor Linda Calhoun reported that five persons were injured, one of whom was evacuated to a Denver hospital by the New Mexico State Police on Saturday, according to CNN.

The Red River mayor and New Mexico State Police said that all shooters were caught, assuring public safety and securing the situation. According to Mayor Calhoun, the people involved have been recognized as part of motorcycle gangs.

The shooting incident happened during the Red River Memorial Day Motorcycle Rally, a yearly gathering of participants that fills Main Street in Red River during the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

According to the state police, other wounded people were sent to Holy Cross Hospital in Taos and the University of New Mexico Health in Albuquerque for medical care.

Mayor Calhoun praised law enforcement's quick action, with the first officer responding 30 seconds after getting the call. Additional officers from the New Mexico State Police have been sent to Red River to assist with the continuing inquiry.

Investigation Underway

Mayor Calhoun underlined the need for a thorough investigation at the location of the crime and advised the public to refrain from the area of the shootout incident, which takes up most of Main Street.

Footage of the New Mexico shootout incident shows a lady attentively watching her surroundings next to a stopped pickup vehicle in the middle of traffic, according to TMZ. After hearing gunshots, she flees and crosses the road as a worried driver tells her to stay away.

Another clip shows people in a car filming the shooting's aftermath as ambulance vehicles, including a rescue truck with flashing lights, gather near a building as cyclists pass by.

Over 28,000 motorcyclists attended the Red River Memorial Day Motorcycle Rally, which drew a sizable crowd.

According to information provided by the Phoenix Field Division through Twitter, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives is committing to assist the New Mexico State Police with their continuing investigation, per ABC News.

In a Sunday morning announcement, law enforcement officials revised the death toll from two to three.
