Ukraine experienced a night of intense bombing in the central region as Russian soldiers targeted a Dnipro medical facility.

At least two persons were killed, and dozens more were injured when Russian forces attacked a medical facility in Dnipro on Friday morning, following a night of heavy bombardment in central Ukraine.

The director of the military administration for the region, Serhii Lysak, stated that a 69-year-old man was killed while "passing by when the missile struck the city" and that the corpse of a second man was "pulled from the debris."

Russia Strikes Dnipro Medical Facility

CNN geolocated the assault to Dnipropetrovsk City Hospital No. 14 and a veterinary clinic in an industrial neighborhood north of the Dnipro River in the city's central region. CCTV reports that the detonation in Dnipro occurred around 10:30 a.m. local time (3:30 a.m. ET) on Friday.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Air Force reported attacks on the Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions between 10 p.m. on Thursday and 5 a.m. on Friday.

The Air Force command reported 17 cruise missiles and 31 "attack drones," and S-300/S-400 missile system strikes in the Dnipro and Kharkiv regions. According to Serhii Popko, the director of Kyiv's military administration, there were also air attacks across the city. He added that no casualties were reported.

Mykola Lukashuk, the president of Dnipro's regional council, reported that approximately 31 people were injured in the bombardment, including eight doctors and two minors. Lukashuk stated in a Telegram message that 16 wounded were brought to hospitals, and the rest are receiving outpatient treatment.

On Friday afternoon, rescue operations continued as employees searched for survivors beneath the debris. Following the assault, three individuals were missing.

There were reports of fires racing through one of the medical clinic's structures. Lysak's video also showed flames streaming from windows and a collapsed roof.

A CNN team on the site observed rescue workers on scaffolds lowering water hoses over the devastation while excavators removed debris. Mayor of Dnipro Boris Filatov stated that a shift change for doctors resulted in fewer persons working at the facility than customary at the time of the attack.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denounced the attack as a crime against humanity, and the Ukrainian Defense Ministry described it as a severe war crime under the Geneva Conventions, which dictate how combatants and civilians should be treated during armed conflict.

Per The Independent, rescue personnel could observe a demolished structure with smoke streaming from it on video footage. A significant portion of the upper floor of what appeared to be a three-story structure and adjacent parked vehicles had been severely damaged.

In Dnipro, the structures of a psychological clinic and a veterinary clinic were devastated. Earlier Friday, Ukrainian officials reported that air defenses had intercepted ten missiles and more than 20 drones launched by Russia in nocturnal attacks on Kyiv, Dnipro, and eastern regions.

Russia, which launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine 15 months ago, did not immediately comment on the reported airstrikes. Still, Ukraine reportedly hit two southern Russian regions with a missile and a drone.

Ukraine Attacks Russia's Southern Belgorod

Meanwhile, Ukrainian artillery fire, mortar projectiles, and drones attacked Russia's southern Belgorod region bordering Ukraine on Friday, authorities said, hours after two drones struck a Russian city in an area adjacent to the annexed Crimean Peninsula.

Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported that four residences, a store, a vehicle, a gas conduit, and an electrical line were damaged in the Belgorod town of Graivoron, located more than 6 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

In the village of Glotovo, a recreation center, a store, and an uninhabited home sustained harm near the border. Gladkov indicated that there were no casualties, as per AZ Central.

This week, the Belgorod region was the target of one of Ukraine's most severe cross-border incursions since the beginning of the conflict 15 months ago. The raid's particulars were obscure. Russia blamed the Ukrainian armed forces, but two Russian organizations claimed they were implicated in an attempt to oust Vladimir Putin.

The mayor of Krasnodar, Yevgeny Naumov, stated that a residential structure and an office building were damaged, but no one was injured.

Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in February of last year, drone attacks against Russian regions on the border with Ukraine have been a regular occurrence, with the frequency of attacks increasing previous month.

Drones attacked a Krasnodar oil refinery on two consecutive days earlier this month.
In what appears to be another instance of Ukraine's forces harassing Russia, Ukraine's defense ministry published imagery on Thursday that appears to show an unmanned drone boat attacking the Ivan Khurs reconnaissance ship in the Black Sea.
The video did not depict the drone colliding with the ship.
